What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile?

Both porcelain and ceramic tiles are made of clay, but the clay used  for porcelain is more refined and purified. This makes porcelain less  absorbent and therefore more stain resistant.

Does porcelain tile cost more than ceramic tile?

Yes, porcelain tile is generally a little more expensive than ceramic,  but there are many porcelain tiles that are very reasonably price in  today's market.

Can porcelain tile be used outdoors?

Yes, some porcelain tiles can be used outdoors because porcelain is  very dense and less likely to absorb moisture from the winter air  during our snowy, cold Colorado winters, so they wil not crack.
